The region of AMED is situated in the east of Bali (Karangasem) with typical fishing villages and limited dive- and snorkeling tourism and mountain villages.
Our project here started because a few people asked us to teach them English, so they could communicate with the tourists and/or find a job.
Soon we had the impression that there where many more candidates.
After taking information about the situation of education level in Tukadse, Amed, Lebah, Jemeluk, Bunutan, we decided, in cooperation with the local dive centrum and Kepala Dusun (head of a community), to organize a course “basic- communication English” for the whole community, young and old.
After a few weeks, the children from surrounding villages also came to the course and so we received more information about the conditions in these villages.
In the mean time Foundation CIMD is also active in child sponsoring, supports the local primary schools and there students, accompanying the sick and disable persons and with information about hygiene and health.
Through this project and in good cooperation with our local contacts, Foundation CIMD
can reach the hole region and not only a few individuals.
